Making, Hacking, Coding: Fablabs as Intermediary Platforms for Modes of Social Manufacturing

The article suggests that the emergence of FabLabs and other collaborative spaces innovation imply new modes manufacturing, based on a more social, inclusive, open approach than current industrial mass-production models. We argue are platforms social allowing different combinations interactions between industries individuals, through their activities around making (producing goods from raw materials), hacking (re-using/combining produced goods), coding re-using digital goods). also defines four manufacturing depending technologies used (open or proprietary) location (local industrial). contributes to literature by explaining prospective scenarios development in relationship production.
